With the holiday season upon us, you’ll soon be filling your home with seasonal goodies. And while your friends and neighbors who enter your house will be filled with holiday cheer, your mature pet could get into trouble when suddenly surrounded by the sparkly and sweet-smelling decorations and treats. Consider these three potential areas to keep your dog safe and sound into the New Year.
• Extra Edibles – Your pet's first instinct when surrounded by new objects may be to try them out for taste. Remember, many holiday items pose a threat to your pet – from ribbons and ornament hooks to holiday goodies. Keep the lowest branches of a tree free of ornaments so there’s less risk of her batting and breaking them. Keep electrical cords for holiday lights out of reach. Keep an eye on ribbons, and keep holiday treats in sealed containers.
• Pesky Plants – From trees to poinsettias, pay close attention to any plants you use indoors during the holidays. Your pet can get quite ill from eating seasonal plants such as poinsettias and mistletoe. Also, if you have a tree in your house, be sure to keep your pet out of the water in its base. Provide plenty of fresh drinking water for him or her elsewhere in the house and, if necessary, find a tree stand with a covered base.
| • Candle Fire Hazard – A curious dog combined with candles can quickly create a fire hazard. As much as possible, keep lit candles – and recently extinguished ones filled with hot wax – out of your pet's reach. Consider electric or battery-operated bulbs to illuminate your home throughout the season. Never leave lit candles unattended any time, especially during the holidays.

For example, orders received prior to midnight will ship the following day and orders after midnight will ship the second day. (Order at 11:59 pm Monday, ships Tuesday afternoon---Order at 12:01 am Tuesday will ship on Wednesday afternoon and so forth including weekends.) Generally, including USPS First Class mail delivery time, you should receive your Free Sample of Dog Lover’s Choice™ Natural EXTRA™ Topping within 8 days or less. We’ve gotten some feedback in as few as 4 days. As we get closer to the Christmas Holidays, the delivery time may slow. Look for the valuable e-coupon enclosed with your sample for your first order. Normally, all orders prior to 4:15pm CST ship the same day; after 4:15 they ship next day by USPS Priority Mail™ and generally arrives within 3 days of order. Our days run from 12:01am until 11:59pm CST each day for free samples. For example if you requested a free sample, it would normally go in the mail within 24 hours of your request. The free samples are sent by regular First-Class Mail and may take several days to arrive. This means that you should receive a free sample in about 5 business days. We have a daily limit that we can accommodate and when the limit is met, the website can no longer accept orders until the next day. Due to the unusually high number of requests we have been experiencing since Monday 11/12/2007, this may result in a one day delay.
